What You'll Need
To shrink wrap a hamper well, you'll need a few key materials. First, find the best-sized shrink wrap bags for your hamper baskets, we offer two sizes on site, 40 x 60cm and 55 x 70cm. A heat gun is also essential for wrapping the bag tight around the hamper and providing a neat and professional finish.
You will also need a pair of scissors and some Sellotape, plus shredded paper or wood wool. It’s also a good idea to have your 'finishing touches' with you to enhance your presentation further. This can include ribbons, gift tags, embellishments and jute rope. With these basic materials, you can shrink wrap hampers to a high standard.
How To Shrink Wrap Successfully
Choose which hamper, gift box or tray you're filling first and the right-sized shrink wrap bag for it. Fill your hamper with whatever contents you've chosen. Create a food hamper by adding chocolates, jams, marmalades and crisps. The shrink wrap means you can fill your chosen hamper with as much as you like, even if it has a lid as the basket will be open.
Once you've filled your hamper, slide it widthways into the bag. Ensure it's snug at the closed end of the bag. Then fold over the open end and fix it in place with Sellotape at the back of the hamper. This will give you a neat finish.
Then it's time to start shrink wrapping! Use your heat gun approximately 10-12cm away from the bag and ensure you keep it always moving around. Once you're happy with the tightness of the bag around the hamper you can add your finishing touches. Wrap a simple ribbon or jute rope around your hamper and add a bow or gift tag if necessary. If you’re shipping your hampers, don’t forget to get your transit packaging for a safe trip to the customer or recipient.
